Remoaner Carol Vorderman fuming over general election petition and demands ‘rejoin the EU’

The former Countdown star has voiced her anger at “right wingers stamping their feet” and suggested another EU referendum instead.

Carol Vorderman has slammed the petition demanding Labour call another general election, suggesting the country should have another EU referendum as well.

The former Countdown star and long-time Remoaner took to social media platofrm X to voice her anger at the “right wingers stamping their feet”.

She wrote: “Right wingers stamping their feet saying call a General Election. Tell you what …. Let’s have a Rejoin the EU referendum at the same time? Six million people signed that petition.”

Launched just five days ago, the “Call a general election” petition suddenly gained massive momentum over the weekend, despite the country already going to the polls five times in the last 10 years.

The Government is obliged to respond to all petitions that garner more than 10,000 signatures. Any petition that amasses over 100,000 signatures will be considered for a debate in Parliament, although this is not guaranteed.

The petition was set up by Michael Westwood, who argues that “the current Labour Government have gone back on the promises they laid out in the lead up to the last election”.

Westwood, a small business owner, told the Express he thinks voters feel “betrayed” by Labour and that the “promises that were told” ahead of the July election “looking nothing like” the reality.

He said: “The British public feel like they have been betrayed with the promises that were told in the lead to the election and then what has been delivered since – it looks nothing like what was promised.

“I think people have had enough, people have seen what’s happened over in America as well, and I think that’s had a knock-on effect that, actually, if people stand together and vote then we can make a change.”
