Ed Miliband’s Great British Energy has been forced to redesign its logo because it used a stock image for its emblem. Labour was mocked after its new energy company initially used a cartoon lightbulb logo that turned out to be the same as a small US advertising agency.

The design appeared to be available to purchase from the stock image website Dreams Time but has now changed in both colour and design. Great British Energy is a publicly owned clean-energy company that will own and operate sites such as wind farms to bolster environmentally friendly power sources.

Its headquarters will be in Scotland and it will be paid for by a windfall tax on oil and gas giants.

Great British Energy was one of Labour’s most high-profile campaign pledges, alongside its promise to slash energy bills by £300 a year by creating a zero-carbon electricity system by 2030.

Last month, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer reiterated his commitment to the £300 cut and said he wanted “bills to be low for a prolonged period of time”.
